Arl: Mergerites Allen Lulu and Jason George are coming to your workplace. These two SAG Board Members are so-called “SAG Ambassadors”. SAG Ambassadors are being allowed, by your employers to come to your workplace, at motion picture studios, to lobby you to vote for the SAG-AFTRA merger.
Merger opponents are not allowed to come onto motion picture studio lots, unless they are booked on a show that is working on a studio lot. The employers are allowing “SAG Ambassadors” to coerce and interfere with employees, in their vote for their preferred union, either an independent SAG or a merged SAG-AFTRA.
Our employers would be allowing merger opponents equal access, if they had no preference between SAG or SAG-AFTRA. This is a classic unfair labor practice. SAG-AFTRA, if merger is approved, will have been an “employer assisted union”. Mr. Lulu’s response:
“There is no deal with the AMPTP in getting ambassadors to the sets. Set reps visit sets….all the time. They do a tremendous job and they are there to make sure that OUR people are treated well. I’ve been brought with them to sets and that’s totally cool with production. Met a commercial producer today who was very happy to have us there. The AMPTP has nothing to do with us being there. We are there for our actors.”
When we go to the set the rep introduces us to whomever is there. Be it the stars of the show, the principles in a spot or the background, stand-ins, etc. And it usually goes something like-a this:
“Hi, guys. This is Allen Lulu. He’s a Hollywood Board Member as well as one of the members of the G1 who helped craft this merger package. We know that many of you have questions and he’s here to answer them.”
And then I go something like:
“Yes. Further, I am the LA chair of the Commercial performers Committee as well as having been one of the negotiators for the previous commercials contract. Like _____ said, I’m here to answer your questions about the merger referendum which you should be receiving in the mail any day. So, anyone have a question?”
And then they ask. They have a lot of questions. Many of them have read the BS that your side spews and, almost every time another actor on set chides them for believing monstrously ridiculous lies. It’s fun to watch that. Mainly because we all know that your spin and distortions aren’t working. At all.”
Arl: These people pushing this merger are totally ruthless. They are spending millions of your dollars to sucker you into destroying the Great Screen Actors Guild! Here is what the NLRB says about such Actions :
“When rival unions are competing to organize an employer’s employees, the employer is forbidden to give the union it favors privileges it denies to the other union… . Allowing one of several unions, competing to represent employees, to solicit on company premises during working hours and denying other unions the same privilege.”
