Jon left out one little tidbit! The Ol’ Watchdog has heard from more than one source that not only was he doing a non-union movie, but he was also encouraging other SAG actors to do the same thing!
You realize that Poor Jon just don’t get it when he says “My request was met with fear and panic from the SAG officer in charge of “financial core” ‘Jon, you must not do this,’ she said. ‘You will open the door to all our actors running for financial core’ I thought to myself ‘What’s so bad about that?’
What’s so bad about that Jon is that if everyone went financial core like you, there wouldn’t be ANY SAG Awards because.
THERE WOULDN’T BE ANY SAG!

PS, Voight talks about the “protection of financial core.” What protections? Doesn’t this guy realize that that’s the reason this union was formed in the first place! To protect the actor from over work and under pay! Maybe, he should go on the SAG website to its history section and read about what conditions were like before our brave founders formed this guild.
The only protection fi-core offers is one of union betrayal. It let’s selfish, self-centered members take advantage of all the hard earned benefits loyal SAG members have fought and sacrificed for over the last 70 years—while at the same time allowing them to cash-in on a bad law that let’s them to do work that the rest of us eschew in order to keep our union strong!
